1.2. Shared Indexes

1.2.1. Environment Setup (Optional)

The original note recorded the GoLand 2022 workflow for generating shared indexes through idea.properties, dump-shared-index, and cdn-layout-tool. That command-line interface has changed.

The current JetBrains Shared Indexes tool provides a standalone CLI. First download the tool corresponding to the current IDE and prepare the IDE and project paths:

ij-shared-indexes-tool-cli.bat boost --ij <IDE_PATH> --project <PROJECT_PATH>

Do not hard-code a personal TEMP directory, Toolbox version directory, or machine-specific path here.

1.2.2. Export Project Indexes

Use the current tool to generate the project’s shared indexes:

ij-shared-indexes-tool-cli.bat indexes ^
  --ij <IDE_PATH> ^
  --project <PROJECT_PATH> ^
  --base-url https://<INDEX_SERVER>/goland ^
  --data-directory <INDEX_DATA_DIR>

The exact parameters should follow the current JetBrains documentation.

1.2.3. Create Shared-Index Metadata

The old note used cdn-layout-tool separately to generate metadata. The current Shared Indexes CLI already generates the indexes and related data that can be uploaded, so there is no need to keep using the old fixed cdn-layout-tool command.

1.2.4. Upload Shared Indexes to a CDN Server

  1. Prepare a file server accessible through HTTP/HTTPS.
  2. Upload the generated shared-index directory to the server.

Do not put private IP addresses, internal domains, or local absolute paths into public notes.

1.2.5. Use the Indexes

Whether the client needs project configuration files, plugins, and what configuration format is required changes with IDE versions. Follow the current JetBrains Shared Indexes documentation. The core workflow is still:

generate indexes → upload to index server → IDE downloads and reuses shared indexes

In GoLand, you can view shared-index status from the relevant Settings / Shared Indexes entry.
